CV Michiel schapers

Michiel Schapers turned pro in 1982. His first achievement was the number one position on the Dutch ranking. He stayed number one from 1982 until 1989.

In 1983 he won his first of three National titles. The breakthrough to the top100 of the ATP followed soon. It was the start of eleven years on the ATP Tour.

Michiel reached his best ranking of 25 in 1988.

 

During his last years as a tennisprofessional Michiel started coaching Daniel Vacek and Alexander Radulescu. As of 1993 he coached Vacek fulltime and Radulescu parttime. Vacek reached the top50 under the guidance of Michiel Schapers and Radulescu got as far as the top100.

From the first of october 1995 till october 2004 Schapers worked for the Dutch federation KNLTB.

He coached several players who did very well on the ATP Tour such as Raemon Sluiter, Peter Wessels, Edwin Kempes and John van Lottum. Michiel was coach of the Dutch Davis Cup Team from 1998 through 2000.

As of october 2004 Michiel is coaching young Dutch talent Peter Lucassen and has done work for several young international players.
